Javier Errando Mariscal (Valencia, 1950)

Artist born in 1950. He studied design at the Elisava school in Barcelona but he did not finish and he continued to learn in a self-taught way. Mariscal is known for his mastery of drawing and for working with all kinds of support. He is considered a total artist of the post-modern movement. The most significant influence is seen in American Pop Art of the mid-twentieth century. He is such a prolific author that he has produced works in fields as diverse as graphic design, painting, interior design, urban landscape, gardening or comics. The work of Javier Mariscal is defined as hedonistic, optimistic and symbolist, with a great chromatic palette and a plastic language that borders on the poetic language. A synthetic drawing, with few strokes and a lot of expressiveness. Its wide variety of themes includes Mediterranean culture, comic book characters and icons, and collaborations with great Spanish film directors. He was awarded the National Design Award in 1999. He also designed the mascot for the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona and won an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Film, as well as the Goya in the same category for the film Chico y Rita, made next to Trueba. Among his most memorable exhibitions we can highlight, in 1977, in the Gran Hotel Galeria Mec Mec as the first exhibition. In 1984 he exhibited at the Space Actuel in Paris and in 1988 in his hometown, Valencia, specifically in the Lonja, called 100 Years of Marshal (Retrospective). In 1989, his work was exhibited at the ARCO international contemporary art fair, located in the Moriarty gallery in Madrid. One of his art shows that consecrate him more, if possible, as an international artist, we located in Milan in 1996, in the city of the same name in the gallery InterNos. In 2002 he exhibited in the gallery Trama de Barcelona. Lastly, it is worth noting that in 2006 he presented another work at ARCO.
